Lobi Stars Train at Refurbished McCarthy Stadium Ahead of Season Finale

Date:

Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Lobi Stars of Makurdi, held their first training session on Thursday at the newly refurbished McCarthy Stadium in Wadata, signaling a potential return to their home state as the season winds down.

Despite being relegated to the Nigerian National League (NNL) after 34 games, the club is aiming to finish the season on a strong note. Lobi Stars have spent much of the campaign without a stable home, playing matches in Lafia, Bauchi, and most recently at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.

The Aper Aku Stadium, their original home ground, has not hosted any NPFL matches in the past two seasons due to its poor condition. The team is now eyeing McCarthy Stadium, which has been completely overhauled with a new playing surface and upgraded facilities that align with NPFL standards.

Thursday’s training session was led by Head Coach Tony Bulus and his technical crew, as the team prepared for an away fixture this weekend in Ilorin against Kwara United.

With a fresh pitch and a morale boost from being back on home soil, Lobi Stars hope to end their challenging season on a positive note.
