Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has praised the recent defection of key Delta State political figures—including Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa—to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a major win for the party.In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, on Friday, April 25, Governor Okpebholo said the shift demonstrates the dynamic nature of Nigeria’s political landscape and reflects a shared commitment to national development.He noted that the APC has gained significant ground in the South-South region, particularly with its growing influence in Delta State.Okpebholo emphasized that the political realignment would foster stronger collaboration between Edo and Delta States and improve the region’s ability to push for more attention at the federal level.He expressed hope that the party’s influence would soon extend to other states in the region, including Rivers, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom.With APC now in control of three South-South states, Okpebholo believes the party is in a strong position to deliver the region in the next general elections. He also stressed that minority states would now have a better platform to negotiate development-focused policies and federal projects.The governor reiterated his confidence in the party’s growing momentum and its impact on shaping future political outcomes in the region.
