Ex-APC Women Leader Hails Oborevwori’s Defection to APC

Date:

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), was notably absent from the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) meeting in Abuja on Saturday. The event was meant to welcome new members to the APC, but Oborevwori, who won the 2023 gubernatorial race under the PDP, did not attend.

The governor, along with his predecessor, Ifeanyi Okowa, and other key PDP figures in Delta State, announced they were collapsing their structures into the APC, citing the party as a more fitting platform for the state’s future.

In a show of support, Stella Okotete, the Executive Director of Business Development at NEXIM Bank and former APC National Women Leader, expressed excitement over the defection. She praised the move, stating that it would not only strengthen the APC but also boost its prospects in the South-South geopolitical zone and beyond.

Other APC leaders, including Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo, Delta APC Founding Leader Olorogun Otega Emerhor, former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs Elder Godsday Orubebe, and Senator Joel Onowakpo-Thomas, also welcomed Oborevwori’s move, describing it as a significant step forward for the party.
