President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Remo Stars Football Club on their historic victory in the 2024–2025 Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) title, describing the achievement as a milestone that has brought attention to Ikenne and Ogun State.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised the club’s success, emphasizing that the triumph, which came just four years after their promotion to the elite league, reflects the hard work, discipline, and indomitable spirit of the players, coaches, and management.
The president acknowledged the team’s resilience, particularly after falling short in their previous attempts to claim the league title, and expressed his hope that their success would inspire other Nigerian football clubs to pursue their ambitions with perseverance and optimism.
Tinubu also commended Kunle Soname, the club’s owner and chairman, for his vision and commitment, particularly for his investment in grassroots football and the construction of a state-of-the-art stadium in Ikenne.
“As Nigeria’s champions, Remo Stars will now represent the country in the CAF Champions League. President Tinubu urges the team to carry the same undaunted spirit and focus onto the continental stage,” the statement read.
The president further encouraged football fans across Nigeria to support Remo Stars as they aim to make the country proud in African competition.
