Davido Says He’s Not Given Enough Credit Despite 15 Years of Impact

Date:

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, believes he is not fully appreciated for his contributions to the Nigerian music industry, despite a career spanning 15 years.

Speaking in a recent interview with content creator Egungun of Lagos, the singer said:
“I have been conquering the music industry for 15 years, but the crazy thing is that people don’t give me my flowers [credit] that I deserve.”

When asked if he believes he has haters, Davido responded:
“There are haters, but when I go everywhere, they love me, so I’m like, where are the haters?”

While the artist feels underappreciated, he remains one of Africa’s most celebrated musicians. At the 17th edition of The Headies Awards held in Lagos, he won both the Artist of the Year and Digital Artiste of the Year categories.

Davido’s influence on the global rise of Afrobeats continues to be widely recognized, with numerous awards and international collaborations marking his legacy.
